ABOUT LUA HADAR
Vocalist Lua Hadar interprets an eclectic song list with a soaring range, charm, swing, passion and humor. She has been molded by cultural exchange in places diverse as Bali, Russia, Switzerland, Japan, Thailand, Eastern Europe, Israel, France and Italy, where she performed and taught for five years.
Lua has charmed audiences at such noted jazz clubs as Yoshi’s Oakland and New York’s Iridium to Bangkok’s Thailand Cultural Center and the Swan Bar in Paris. Hadar’s band Twist has been cultivating their cosmopolitan jazz sound since 2007, twisting the style of international standards and performing originals in 9 languages (and counting).
Hadar’s discography includes It’s About Time, her first project with pianist/music director Jason Martineau, initiating their 15-year collaboration in 2005. Lua Hadar with Twist followed in 2008, and the CD/DVD project Like A Bridge was recorded live at Fantasy Studios in 2012, under the direction of Emmy-winning director Lawrence Jordan. Following its Premiere at the Historic Balboa Theater and DVD Release at Yoshi’s Jazz Club, the full-length Concert Film Like A Bridge is now live on iTunes and Google Play.
Lua’s more recent projects are full French or Italian themed shows with Twist and hosting/producing the Italian-themed Cabaret Comico in San Francisco. She performed at Michael Feinstein’s renowned club, Feinstein’s at the Nikko, in November 2016.
The live concert and premiere of her new music video, Our Common Humanity, at the San Francisco International Arts Festival on May 26, 2018, was met with enormous enthusiasm.
After her Italian residency (decades ago!), Lua returned to the USA to start her own company, New Performance Group, through which she has produced CDs, a Concert Film, two music videos, several teaching series both in the USA and abroad, numerous live shows and a mini-festival.
